Оказывается, история про отца Пеппи Длинныйчулок, ставшего "нeгpитянcким королём" - отнюдь не выдумка Астрид Линдгрен.
In 1904, Swedish sailor Carl Emil Pettersson was shipwrecked on Christmas Day when his ship, the Herzog Johan Albrecht, sank near Tabar Island in Papua New Guinea’s New Ireland Province. He was rescued by the islanders and taken to their king, Lamy. The king’s daughter, Princess Singdo, fell in love with him, and they married in 1907. Pettersson established a successful coconut plantation called Teripax and became involved in the copra trade. After King Lamy’s demise, Pettersson became the island’s ruler. Known as "Strong Charley", his extraordinary life was widely reported in Swedish and German newspapers.
