This is an opalized crab claw fossil.
The crab lived during the Cretaceous period, over 66 million years ago.
After it was buried, silica rich water slowly replaced the original shell.
Over time, that process turned it into precious opal.
The colors are natural, caused by light moving through tiny silica spheres inside the stone.
This kind of fossil is found in Lightning Ridge, Australia, one of the only places on earth where opalized fossils form.
Nature preserved it and transformed it at the same time.
